About Woodstock Academy

 

The Woodstock Academy campus includes a complex of six structures. The Academy Hall houses English, math, social studies and language classrooms in addition to Academy Theatre. The Bowen Building houses Administration, Counseling, Health and Cooperative Resource Suites, computer labs, the Holt Science Wing, English, social studies, mathematics, world language classrooms, and the Student Commons. The Hyde Arts Center houses the Alumni Field House, Bates Memorial Auditorium, Bracken Library and Media Center and the music, art, family and consumer science, technology and health classrooms/ labs. The Bracken Alumni Center houses the Headmaster’s Office, the Office of Development and Alumni Relations, the Office of Business Operations, and a Board of Trustees Conference Room. The Bicentennial Building contains world languages and art classrooms. The Hall House contains the ACES Program: Alternative Center for Educational Support. The Bentley Athletic Complex provides fields for soccer, baseball, softball, lacrosse, tennis courts and a 400-meter track. A soccer and lacrosse field and cross-country course are located at The Woodstock Fairgrounds. An additional soccer field and a softball diamond are located at The Roseland Park.

Admissions

New students and their families should contact their Town Superintendent of Schools to obtain a residency voucher prior to registration. Student and parent sessions are available to assist with planning and transition to high school. Open house, orientation and shadowing opportunities are available to acquaint families with the many options available at the Academy. Transfer and tuition students are welcomed in all grades. History

Founded in 1801, Woodstock Academy is a nonselective, comprehensive, independent, coeducational secondary school serving as a public high school for residents of Woodstock, Eastford, Brooklyn, Pomfret & Canterbury. Other communities from Connecticut and neighboring states enroll their students as well. A thirty member independent Board of Trustees governs the Woodstock Academy.

The Woodstock Academy is located in the northeastern corner of Connecticut, known as “The Quiet Corner.” A rural area with a combined population of 20,000, it is centrally located between Hartford, Providence and Worcester.
